1. Bareboat charter (no crew)?
- In a bareboat charter the boat is hired without a crew. This means you must have the appropriate certifications for this type of boat and the corresponding experience as well.
- In case you are not able to skipper the boat, you must hire a professional skipper, who is trained, knows the sea and the weather and will help you organize your trip.
- If you do not know a professional skipper, you must state you are seeking the services of a professional skipper at the time you book the boat.
2. Why are most boats for only up to 12 persons?
The provisions of the International Marine Organization (IMO) stipulate that boats that can carry more than 12 passengers, are considered ?passenger ships? even if these are private yachts and they must comply with the International Convention of the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS).
Therefore, the charter prices for boats licensed to carry more than 12 passengers are significantly higher than boats licensed to carry up to 12 passengers.

3. Is it mandatory for the charter period to be ?one week? long?
No. In most cases charters pertain to at least one week periods.
In some cases it is possible to charter for less days than one week. In these cases, the daily charter price will be greater than 1/7th of the weekly charter price.
As a rule, it is almost impossible to find shorter charter periods during July and August due to increased demand.
Usually, discounts are offered for bookings of 2+ weeks.
4. What is the cost of Yachting123 services?
Owners of boats promoted through Yachting123, pay a small percentage on the total charter cost for the electronic booking service. Thus, we ensure the lowest possible prices.
5. What boat safety guarantees are offered and how can I be assured?
Α. Maritime law
Boats holding a commercial recreational yacht license must comply with the provisions of the Greek and European Maritime Law.
These provisions are particularly strict. It is mandatory that boats are inspected every two years by the competent authority: The Greek Registry. If a boat does not comply with the requirements of the law, its license is not renewed and the Port Authorities do not allow it to leave port. This is the greatest guarantee for the safety of commercial recreational boats.
Yachting123.com cooperates with companies and professionals with a long and successful experience. An agreement is signed prior to our cooperation, providing that their boats will remain in excellent condition and the necessary interventions will be carried according to the requirements of new technological progress.
B. Charter Agreement
Charter agreements are concluded using the official form stipulated by Greek Law.
?Signing of a charter agreement between the contracting parties is required in order to charter a boat. This is a triplicate form, approved by the Ministry of Mercantile Marine, stating the charter terms (charter price, amount of guarantee, departure and arrival dates and ports). It is signed on both sides and a downpayment is paid to the boat owner or its authorized representative, while the remaining charter amount must be paid before the boat departs."
C. Insurance
The charter agreement encompasses full insurance coverage for the boat and crew against any accident due to the owner's or crew's negligence or boat defect.
Charterers may if they wish, arrange for additional insurance, related to diseases or accidents due to their negligence or by chance.
6. What equipment comes with the boat I charter?
An inventory list is signed at the same time as the charter agreement, whereby the boat owner ?charges? the charterer with all equipment mentioned in that list.
7. How can I pay in order to book a boat?
A detailed invoice is created automatically during the booking procedure, stating the exact total charter amount in ? or $. You pay with a credit card.
8. What if I want to cancel the charter?
- If you wish to cancel your booking for any reason, the initial downpayment will be withheld by the boat owner.
- In the event that the boat owner is able to charter the boat under the same terms and for the same dates, it is customary that he returns the downpayment (minus expenses) even though he is not obliged by law to do so.
- By common agreement you may use the boat later either during the same tourist period or the next, whenever it is available

10. Are there any hidden charges that I must pay?
- Through Yachting123 we present all charter charges as analytically as possible.
- Charges may change if, for example, you wish to change the place where you finish your voyage, in which case the boat must be moved to another destination according to its charter schedule.
11. What is included and what is not included in the charter price?
Sailboats
- Price includes the boat for the period you want it. You pick up and deliver the boat from/to the destinations previously agreed.
- The boat is delivered with full fuel and water tanks, charts, dinghy or tender.
- In some cases there is an extra charge for bed linen, etc.
- You are charged for boat cleaning which ranges between 25 ? to 150 ? according to the size.
- In some cases, there is an extra charge for an outboard, if you request it for the dinghy or tender.
- We provide port fee estimates according to your passage schedule.
Motorboats
- For motorboats, the additional cost beyond charter cost is for fuel.
- You can find information in the Yachting123.com site regarding the hourly fuel consumption of our boats. Statistically, the average daily use of motors is 3 hours. Fuel prices vary and therefore we are not in a position to prove such information.
- Another cost is port fees, for which we provide estimates.
- Such charges are paid in cash to the fuel station or to the skipper.

12. How and where can I be supplied with fuel?
- Through Yachting123 (www.yachting123.com/pois) you can get information on the nearest fuel stations for every destination, and their contact information.
- In Greek ports, diesel is provided to recreational boats mainly by tanker trucks, under the care of local port authorities (information VHF, channel 12).
- Most oil companies have an organized gas station network in the islands and in the mainland, which are able to serve boat fuel requirements.
- Some companies have built small tanker ships that are able to carry the tanker truck along with the fuel, thus creating floating boat service facilities.
- In the largest Greek ports, fuel is charged at current prices. In remote areas there is a surcharge to cover the additional cost of transportation.
- Boats are no longer entitled to receive fuel in transit. All must be supplied with motor diesel fuel, which has the natural yellowish color of oil (uncolored).
- Petrol is sold at fuel stations and not by pumps close to the jetty.
- Lubricants are sold everywhere, except in remote islands. Recreational boats performing long passages must make reserve fuel arrangements.
13. Greece is located at the southernmost tip of Europe and the weather is particularly hot. How can I ensure potable water?
- Yachting123 has taken care of this matter for you. You can find out if there is potable water available for boats or not, for each one of your destinations. If not, the site will suggest the closest destinations where water is available, so you will not run out of water under any circumstances.
- Potable water in marinas is charged 80% above urban water supply.
- In ports the water is sold at the jetty or transported by trucks. We suggest you check the prices charged through the local port authorities.
- In some islands there is a shortage of water during the summer months and therefore water supply for the boat can be difficult. You are advised to maintain a stock.
14. Where can I purchase food and other supplies?
Supplies, food, equipment and in general everything related to food supplies, ice, cooking gas and other goods can be found in most Greek ports, sold by private shops or through the organized networks of oil companies. 15. If something goes wrong and the boat needs repairs, is my vacation ruined?
- No. A wide range of boat repair services are offered in most Greek coastal areas and close to the ports of mainland Greece and of the larger islands.
- Small and medium repairs may be performed in smaller ports and remote at small islands.

16. Were will I dock during my voyage?
There are 19 marinas in Greece with 6,661 docking berths, which offer high end services.

18. Where can I find mooring?
- Apart from berths provided in public or private marinas, approximately 3000 recreational boats can moor in Greek ports.
- Small, picturesque marinas have been created and suitably equipped in many Greek ports, except the large commercial ports of Piraeus and Thessaloniki. Safe harbors has been created with the construction of jetties and breakwaters to provide mooring to tourist boats, at the corresponding port fee charges.
- Most of these ports offer the necessary facilities and basic service to boats. Such ports are in Microlimano, Piraeus, in Aegina, Poros, Hydra, Spetses, Nafplio, Gytheo, Pylos, Zakynthos, Ithaki, Cephalonia, Leukada, Paxoi, Ios, Myconos, Patmos, Symi, Samos, Plomari in Lesvos, Chios, etc.
19. How much does mooring cost in Greek ports?
- Commercial ports are supervised by the local port authorities. Recreational boats that use the country?s ports are subject to payment of port fees, which are set by regulatory acts of the competent Ministry of Mercantile Marine (Υ.Ε.Ν.).
- Mooring fees are paid to the local Port Authorities in favor of the Port Fund and are calculated according to boat category, length overall, registered tonnage and length of stay in port.
- Indicatively, for a 45? LOA boat the daily charge in one of the many marinas in the ports, is approximately 10?. This charge is very small and often the port employees are not even bothered to collect it, so don?t be surprised if you pay nothing in the end.
20. I have decided to hire a skipper or crew.Do I have to tip them?If yes, what is the usual amount?
- You are not obliged to do so. If you do so, it will be because you decide to reward the skipper with an additional amount, since he was professional, polite and helpful. In this case, the appropriate tip is approximately 10% of the total amount.
- If you have chartered a boat with a crew and a skipper, then you give the amount you wish to the skipper and he in turn will divide it among the crew on your behalf.
21. How can I be certain everything will go according to plan after I have paid all my obligations?
- At Yachting123.com we are paid by you through a credit card. Boat owners are paid electronically, after we have received payment from you. This ensures ease and safety in transactions.
- The electronic payment system simplifies and protects the process from the time the booking is placed and financial transaction in order to update the booking status is completed, up to the time the clients have finished their voyage. It solves all difficult technical problems, it eliminates human error and ensures that the process is done correctly.

22. What is the position of Yachting123.com in the Greek market?
- We are a Greek company, with a registered office in Athens; we created Yachting123.com by order of the Minister of Development.
- Yachting123.com cooperates with all professional yachting associations in Greece.
- We cooperate with banks in Greece and Visa, Master Card, ΑΜΕΧ.
23. Are you aware of the following points of Greek legislature?
- Entitled to charter out licensed boats under Greek flag, are only the boat owners, ship owners and brokers.
- Ships under foreign flags are prohibited from departing from Greek ports for charter or to board passengers for a fee, for recreational purposes. An exception to this is only allowed in special cases, following a special license granted by the Minister of Mercantile Marine under certain circumstances and under the condition that 15% of the agreed charter amount is paid to the Public Expenses Fund.
- For charter agreements concluded abroad, the port of entry is the first Greek port that the boat enters.
- Before departing from the port of entry and for each passage, each charter boat (licensed commercial boat) must be equipped with a copy of the charter agreement, validated by the Port Authorities, where a copy will be submitted for further procedural steps.
- Before every departure, the skipper must submit to the Port Authorities a complete crew and passenger list (pursuant to the boat license), validated by the Port Authorities, and a copy of this must be kept with the other boat documents throughout the voyage.
- Private recreational yachts, whether under Greek or foreign flag, ARE NOT ENTITLED to receive duty free equipment and supply goods, such as fuel, lubricants, food supplies and other foodstuffs.
