A few words about Ios
Ios is one of the most beautiful and typical Cycladic islands. Every summer it becomes the center of attraction and meeting point for young people from around the world who come to the island to enjoy the exquisite summer sun, fantastic beaches with the crystal-clear water and the amazing nightlife of Ios.
Ios is the island of vitality and youth, the island of dreams, a cosmopolitan summer resort, the jewel of the Cycladic islands.
And not just that? Ios is not just cosmopolitan beaches and luxury hotels. It does not only offer wild nights and party life to visitors. It is not just a chance for intense fun. The island retains its traditional style and Cycladic ambience. The principles of residents have not been altered; customs and traditions are not forgotten. In Ios one can enjoy the sunset when the white houses are bathed in beautiful pink colors, take walks through the picturesque back streets and relax mind and soul.
Beaches
Koubara
Koubara is one of the most beautiful and special beaches because of its morphology. Wild beauty with black irregular rocks that spring up from the sea, caves, small coves and clear, emerald water. There is a large hotel complex and many small taverns near the beach where you can enjoy mezedes and ouzo. This is not an organized beach and therefore you must bring your own gear since there is no shade.
Mylopotas
Mylopotas is not only the busiest and most cosmopolitan beach on the island it is also the beach most widely known around the world as it is considered one of the best in the Mediterranean.
The long, horseshoe shaped beach seems to have a golden or honey color and one can see all variations of blue in the crystal-clear water. It is a spacious beach as it over 1000 meters long but finding a space is often a problem so you?d better head there early in the day. Especially during August when it is packed with vacationers. Some swim in the clear water, others relax under the multicolored umbrellas and others enjoy the sea and water sports. The beach is organized and one can find everything here, including water sports facilities and a diving school. There is a modern hotel complex by the beach, two camping sites and a tavern. In the village, you will find everything from shops and cafés to a car rental shop.
Kalamos
Kalamos is on the eastern side of the island; a long white, sandy beach inside the bay bearing the same name. The water here is very clear and impressive with its exquisite color ranging from pale to deep blue and even emerald and green is some areas.
Manganari
Manganari is an enchanting, spacious white sandy beach more than 100 meters wide. A very popular beach, it draws many vacationers even though it is not organized. Here too the water is very clear, light blue in color. The long beach seems to be cut in half by a series of low rocks that gently stick out into the sea. There are two traditional taverns on either end of the beach, which offer tasty traditional dishes and fresh fish with a view of the endless Aegean blue water.
