The French author Paul Jeancard wrote about Samos in his work "L'anatolie" in 1919 "?and there was Samos?.
The two ranges which compose the island are joined by something which reminds one of a saddle. Their sides are covered with forests. In the middle, white villages perch and around them cultivation, large green triangles that descend to the sea. They are vineyards which produce a famous wine, sweet and dangerous. It can be drunk easily without anyone suspecting the drunken state that always, and indeed quickly, follows.
This then is Samos, mountains, forests, white villages, vineyards and seashores all combined in a harmonious total. Also known as the home of the complex personality of Pythagoras (mathematician and philosopher), Samos attracts visitors, not only for its mountainous nature and its picturesque beaches but also for its culture, its ancient remains, the monuments and its famous Samian wine.
