The natural beauty and volcanic morphology of Santorini are reflected in the precipitous "Caldera" and in the red-brown landscape with its bright colour created by the lava. It is a unique Cycladic island and a perfect place for every season of the year, since it is considered countable among the ten most desirable destinations in the world. Cosmopolitan Fira, Imerovigli with its magnificent view, Kamari with its black beach, the impressive archaeological sites, Akrotiri with its red beach and Oia with its superb sunsets, are just but a few of the dreamlike moments of pleasure that Santorini offers.
Ammoudi-Armeni
The two picturesque coves with their famous taverns attract a lot of people throughout the day. The islet of St Nicholas of Peramataris is exactly opposite Armeni cove. Armeni also has a diving centre.
Aspri
The small beach, apart from its clear blue waters impresses the visitor by its fine sand and pebbles in various shades of light grey. There is a canteen which provides the few summer visitors with drinks and fruit.
Kamari
It is a large and quite well organized beach with black sand where - if you do not mind crowds - you can relax on the beach chairs or take part in water sports. A mosaic of nationalities gathers here every summer, from Austrians to Scandinavians, and Italians to Greeks. You will find excellent restaurants and bars here, the number of which increases every year, giving a really enjoyable touch to the black sand. There is also a diving centre "Hephaisteion".
Kambia
This beach with its emerald-green waters is considered somewhere between Aspri Paralia (White beach and Kokkini Paralia (Red beach), both as to its position and the number of people it attracts.
Kokkini
The scene is magnificent; fine red pebbles and deep blue waters that deepen gradually. Here you can find beach-chairs, umbrellas, canoes and water pedilloes for those who are interested. For a snack, you can visit the refreshment bar or by fruit from the wandering fruit-sellers.
Koloumbo
The beach attracts the attention of the volcanologists since here you can find the most active undersea crater on the island. It is not especially organized, and so makes use of the shade provided by the steep cliff which overlooks the beach of fine pebbles from end to end.
Monolithos
The perfect beach for those who have small children since the beach of fine black sand has water that is quite shallow for some distance. Countless mini-markets and refreshment bars line the beach, so nothing is missing.
Perivolos
It is most cosmopolitan and best-organized beach on the south end of Santorini. Here you will have the opportunity to take part in all sorts of sea sports, or even spend your time dancing at one of the beach bars, where the fun peaks in the afternoon as they close in the evening.
The natural characteristics of the beach are the black pebbles and the cool water that deepens quickly.
Perissa
It is the first black beach on Santorini that was developed. Neighbouring Perivolos may have stolen some of its glory but it remains one of the classic resorts on the island. Although the sea here too deepens suddenly, there is a special Water Park for children. There is also a diving centre, the ?Mesoyios?, and plenty of refreshment bars, taverns and mini-markets.
Vlichada
The beach, with its antithesis between the black sand and the white rocks which surround it, has recently acquired its first hotel the "Cross of the South"( Stavros tou Notou). The persistent large waves discourage many people; however it has long stopped being characterized as deserted. The nudists move ever more to the right, while the former tomato factory now offers wedding receptions and completes the lunar landscape.
