Skyros

A few words about Skyros

This wonderful island still preserves its own character with immense natural beauty and a lacelike shoreline which charms even the most demanding visitor and turns him into an eternal lover. The island has about 3000 inhabitants.

Beaches

Achilli
One kilometre from Aspous, you will find Achilli, at which many of the ancient artifacts to be seen in the archaeological museum were found. Achilli has an attractive beach with a zone of sand-dunes. A beautiful white chapel next to the rocks gives the impression that it has come from the hand of a great painter. Achilli is the main fishing point on the island.

Atsitsa
The picturesque bay of Atsitsa is sheer magic. The dense wood of pine trees next to the clear blue waters creates an idyllic scene. The pebbly beach is not very big, but a very good tavern nearby will satisfy your midday hunger, especially if you like fresh fish.

Kalamitsa
The water is clear and cold because of underwater springs which enter the sea here. The bay is suitable for surfing as the winds blow parallel to the shore and waves are not too big.

Kyra Panagia
The peaceful beach of Kyra Panagia with pebbles and scattered rocks in the water lies 16km from Skyros town. An ice-cold beer in one of the taverns after the hot sun is the best way to cool down.

Magazia

This is a very important resort, an extension of Chora, and the largest sandy beach on the island. There are installations for sea sports, tourist accommodation, hotels, rented rooms, taverns, plentiful fresh fish and workshops of ceramics and tiles.

Girismata
This is the second beach after Magazia in the preference of bathers, and lies 3km from Chora. It is a long beach, and one of the most beautiful on the north section of the island, with quite good tourist facilities.
