Aegina is one of the Saronic Islands of Greece . The island, along with offshore islets, comprises the Municipality of Aegina in Piraeus Prefecture, a part of the Attica region. Due to its proximity to Athens, it is a popular quick getaway during the summer months.
In the enchanting atmosphere of the night you can have fun and dance at the clubs in town. The buildings in Aegina have a neoclassical architecture with folk elements. They were built during the 19th century and remind us that Aegina were once the capital city of Greece for two years.
Agia Marina
This beach can be found at the village of the same name in the east of the island 15 kilometres from town. It is the most beautiful sandy beach on the island, fully equipped with umbrellas, deck-chairs and installations for sea sports. Children will love the relatively shallow waters and the adults will enjoy the intense nightlife. There are many taverns nearby with fresh fish and tasty snacks, as well as cafeterias and bars.
Aeginetissa
It is sandy, has crystal clear water and the pine trees reach the edge of the sea. It is especially popular with youngsters.
Kolona
A little beyond Kolona hill with its ancient remains so important to the history of the island, you will find this picturesque beach from which you can admire the temple of Apollo.
Skala
This is a cosmopolitan beach on the northeast coast of the island opposite the islet of Metope. You can reach the area via a minor road from the village of Megalochori. The beach has fine sand while the waters are turquoise. In the village of Skala there are rented rooms, hotels, restaurants and surprisingly good nightlife.
