A Few Words about Lefkada
Lefkada is an Ionian island that will win you over right from the start.
The island's wild but at the same time mild beauty, the emerald crystal-clear waters, the gorgeous exotic beaches with the white sand, the lovely picturesque villages scattered around on the island's hills, the option of pleasant escapes to the magical neighboring islands give a special color to the vacations on the island.
All beaches combine the wild image of edgy rocks that reach the sea and beautiful sandy beaches stretching out among them.
Beaches
Agios Ioannis
A long beach of golden sand with exquisite beauty. The crystal blue waters create a marvellous contradiction to the wild vegetation and the unique view of the chapel of Agios Ioannis reminds the visitor of an exotic scenery. Despite the beache's beauty, it is not highly developed. Many little taverns scattered around among the olive grasses can please your appetite and satisfy your hunger. The beach of Agios Ioannis has been awarded the blue ribbon from the European Union.
Agiofylli
The access to the tiny beach of Agiofylli is made only coastally. The beach is part of the gulf of Vasiliki. The turquoise water invite all visitors for a swim. You can relax lying under the sun and gazing at the wide Blue Ionian sea, enjoying the beautiful scenery.
Egremni
This beach is 38 km away from the island's capital, and it is very beautiful. Once you are there the beauty of the beach, which is hidden under the edgy rocks, will definitely fascinate you. A long line of golden sand, the deep blue waters with a garland of waves, just like of the western shores. Since the access there is difficult, it is an ideal spot for the seekers of solitude.
Evgiros
It is a small, lovely, serene sandy beach with crystal clear waters, with scattered little rocks inside, just 34 km south of the island's capital
Kathisma
One of the island?s most beautiful and popular sandy beaches. It is 1km long and it is very well-organised. The thin golden sand and the crystal blue waters attract a great number of swimmers. There are plenty of deck chairs to help you relax, and the umbrellas protect you from the sun. There are all kinds of water sports facilities in the beach, even for the lovers of parachuting, which is a thrilling experience. The spectacular view of the sunset is a sight to remember.
Kalamitsi
The island's most isolated, but beautiful beach. This is the beach of Kalamitsi named after the settlement. The sandy coast with the green-blue waters and in combination with the few scattered rocks, offer an idyllic landscape, ideal for joyful dives and plunges.
Nydri
Golden sand and clear blue waters consist the gorgeous set of this lovely beach, which is situated on the cosmopolitan village bearing the same name. There are plenty of deck chairs to relax, and umbrellas to protect you from the sun. The gulf is ideal for all kinds of water sports, for which you can also find the equipment. Water-ski, sailing, windsurfing, but also fishing are some of the choices. You can taste the delicious dishes of the local cuisine in the area's fish-taverns and picturesque restaurants. The region is also famous for its nightlife.
Porto Katsiki
The beach of Porto Katsiki is listed among the six top beaches of the Mediterranean, because of its great natural beauty. The sight of white mountain cut, which leaves a small strip of and in front of the sea, offering an unforgettable sight. Very few manage to resist its charm, despite the fact that it is overcrowded during the summer period, because of its high development, as the busy human crowd fills the coast. The great number of deck chairs and umbrellas add to the general set of relaxation. There is a small bar near the few steps that lead to the beach, from where you can get your supplies for the long hours under the sun. Nevertheless, it is better to cover the 40km distance from the island's capital using your yacht, and not by car.
